steal my breath

as we kissed
i repeated
careful careful careful,
with haste,
silently.

my skin swelled,
i receded
my barrier,
just one,
cautiously.

the tide rushed.
my heart screamed.
she sent the gate to
the ground,
with fury. with fright.

she's not accepting strangers.
she doesn't take solicitors.
she's selective.
seductive.

she'll tell you
"careful with me.
i'm tough.
i've got nothing to hide.
with every beat
I bleed independence."

she's a liar.

the walls encase her
in steel grates and
barb wire.
one might bruise
scaling their height.

tumble, stumble
collapse and crumble...

she's a liar.
